Design In The City
Branding/Print/Digital/Animation/Wayfinding

This year, Design Shanghai expanded beyond the exhibition venue, connecting over 100 locations across four districts of the city. Through a curated programme, Design In The City brought together leading brands, cultural institutions and emerging studios to connect with audiences. By positioning the city itself as a framework for interaction, the project encouraged closer relationships between design and everyday life.

We designed the visual identity and graphic language to express these connections through layered lines intersecting, with colour used to distinguish each district.

We also designed a guidebook, suite of animations and a responsive system for window graphics for participating venues that could be adapted to fit a wide variety of display areas – from large windows, to small doorways. The scheme aimed to create as much visual impact as possible, without blocking the sight lines into the space, allowing for a harmonious and unique interaction with each venue.
